Combat Injuries & Pain With Action, Not Rest

We're Open On Weekends!

The PHYSIFIT Way

THE 3 KEYS TO SUCCESS

60 Minute Appointments Only

Our appointments are specifically designed to last between 45 to 60 minutes, ensuring ample time for thorough treatment. By dedicating generous time to each appointment, we create an environment where you never feel rushed or overlooked. We believe in taking the time to listen to you, answer your questions, and address any uncertainties you may have about your treatment.

Data-Driven Treatment Plan

Our assessment guides our treatment. By performing a thorough physical examination, we'll understand your body's deficits and what specifically needs to be improved. Most physios stop assessing after the diagnosis, and then they just start giving you random treatment, hoping that you'll improve. There are no cookie cutter methods.

Open Communication

When was the last time you messaged or spoke to your physio outside your allocated appointment time? Probably never. We actively encourage patients to communicate with us and update us on how they're going so that we know how we can support them. After your appointments, expect a text message from your physio, within the week, to see how you're going.

Services

We provide physiotherapy & exercise physiology services for a range of injuries & conditions. However, we specialise in sports & musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Individualised Clinical Exercise

Personalised clinical exercise prescribed by an experienced physiotherapist. Improve strength, power, flexibility, and mobility while addressing your specific concerns and needs for injury recovery and pain management. Every condition will require specific exercises to promote a full recovery.

Dry Needling

Dry needling therapy offers targeted relief for muscle tension, pain, and dysfunction, allowing you to return to your desired activities sooner. By precisely inserting thin needles into trigger points or tight muscles, it promotes muscle relaxation and improved blood flow.

Soft Tissue & Joint Mobilisation

We target tight muscles and restricted joints, promoting relaxation, improved range of motion, and enhanced function. Mobilisation reduces muscle tension, alleviates pain and stiffness, and enhances flexibility, allowing you to move with greater ease and comfort.

Rigid Strapping & K-Taping

Rigid taping offers stability and protection to injured joints and muscles, reducing the risk of further damage and promoting optimal movement patterns during activity. Meanwhile, K-Tape (kinesiology tape) enhances circulation, reduces swelling, and supports injured tissues without restricting range of motion, allowing for continued activity and accelerated recovery.

About

Matthew Heng

Physiotherapist & Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Master of Physiotherapy
Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology)

I’m a qualified and registered physiotherapist and accredited exercise physiologist. I have gained extensive experience in private practice, sports and hospitals before starting PhysiFit.

My areas of specialty are musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports injuries.

I’m extremely passionate about exercise and movement, which I embody in my treatment methods. I understand that movement is medicine so I encourage and empower my patients to take control of their injuries with an active approach and mindset.

I believe there are three keys to success and optimal recovery from injury; a thorough objective assessment, an individualised and tailored treatment plan, and communication between patients and practitioner.

After dealing with several minor sporting injuries, I recently dealt with a significant injury in the form of a complete Achilles tendon rupture. I understand what it’s like to go through injury and the toll it takes on your life, not only in sports. That’s why I’m committed to getting my patients as strong and resilient as possible to minimise the risk of future injury.

When I’m not working, I love staying active by doing weights, playing basketball and boxing. However, I’m always willing to try a new sport and activity.

Some significant courses that I’ve completed include:
APA Sports Physiotherapy Level 2
ASCA Strength & Conditioning Coach Level 1
Dry Needling Introduction, Advanced & Masterclass (CPD Health Courses)
First Aid & CPR Certified

Frequently Asked Questions

No, physiotherapists are primary care practitioners. We are able to assess, diagnose, treat and refer for further imaging when required.

Yes, we can do on-the-spot claims so bring your private health card with you to your appointment. If you don’t have your card, we can provide you an invoice that you can take to your health fund for a rebate.

A physiotherapy session typically begins with an evaluation and assessment of your condition. We’ll be able to diagnose your condition and then evaluate your mobility, strength and function so that your physiotherapist can develop a customised treatment plan based on your specific needs and goals. Treatment sessions may include a combination of exercises and manual therapy.

Please bring all relevant referrals and scans with you to your appointment. Also, make sure to wear clothing that doesn’t restrict movement and allows us to see your affected joint so that we can perform a more thorough assessment.

The length of time it takes to see results from physiotherapy varies depending on the severity of your condition and your individual needs. Some patients may see improvements within a few sessions, while others may require more time.
